Xbox One Slim images leaked ahead of E3 reveal

After Sony exec Andrew House recently revealed that the company’s upcoming, 4K-enabled console, dubbed the Neo, wouldn’t be at E3, many thought Microsoft would follow its rival’s lead and not unveil its upgraded Xbox One – codenamed Scorpio – at the event.

However, after images were found by NeoGAF forum members, it seems Microsoft will be revealing at least one console later today.

It’s long been rumored that, in addition to the Scorpio, there will be a slim version of the Xbox One released. According to the leaked photos, it seems the sleeker console is called the Xbox One S. It’s 40 percent smaller than its predecessor and features some improved hardware.

As well as the eye-catching pattern and white design, the S comes with a 2TB hard drive, a “streamlined controller,” and a “vertical stand,” so you’re no longer limited to a horizontal orientation. Moreover, the Xbox One S will be the first Xbox-branded console without a power brick, which now comes built into the machine.

While the Xbox One S isn’t as powerful as the Scorpio, it does have some 4K abilities. These will appear in the system menus and in streaming apps that support 4K output. The console also supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) content.

We’ll find out in a few hours time whether Microsoft will reveal the Scorpio alongside the Xbox One S at E3. When asked about the slim, the company gave the following statement: ” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ” Guess that means it’s real, then.

We’ve no idea how much the Xbox One S will cost or when it’ll be available, but more information will be revealed at the press event, which starts at 9.30 AM PT.
