Anyone that has played Flappy Bird is well aware of the fact that it “borrowed” some assets from a very popular Nintendo franchise. I’m of course talking about Super Mario Bros. (and specifically, its green warp pipes and the “flappy” behavior that looks a lot like Mario in swimming levels).
Consider the fact that SethBling did this using a genuine Super Nintendo console and an unmodded game cartridge, not an emulator. What’s more, he didn’t even use any hacked hardware to pull it off. That’s right, he manually injected the code into memory using glitch techniques. Now that, my friends, is impressive.
The entire process took close to an hour and fortunately, he livestreamed / recorded the whole thing for our enjoyment. According to SethBling, he is the first person to ever pull off this sort of exploit. The clip above is the abridged version although you can watch the full task over on Twitch.
